In this article, I will help you manage an interesting setting in your account. It’s the read-only access on the Exness broker.
What is read-only access?
Read-only access is a setting that many traders and introducing brokers (IB) use to show their Forex trading accounts to the customers. It means you can share your account access with a 3rd party. After logging in with your read-only password, they can view but not trade with that trading account.
How to set read-only access for your Exness account
There are two ways to set read-only access. I will give an example using an MT5 account (You can do the same with MT4).
Method 1: Set read-only access directly on Exness broker
Step 1: Login to your Exness account
For which account you want to share, just click on the gear icon on that account and select “Set read-only access”.
Step 2: Set a read-only password
The read-only password of the account must not be the same as the real one.
Once done, you save the server, login ID, and password. Give this information to the one you want to share.
Method 2: Set directly on the MT4 account
In this way, I will use MT4 on my phone to guide. The read-only password is called the investor password in MT4.
Step 1: Login to your MT4 trading account
Login to your trading account on the MT4 platform and follow the instructions as shown.
Step 2: Set the investor password
To create the investor password on the MT4 trading platform, you need to enter your current account password first.
Step 3: Save the information
Since you create the password on your phone, you may probably forget it after a while. Remember to save the password in a safe place.
Actually, I quite hate someone looking at my account during trading. Feeling scrutinized can be overwhelming sometimes.
But if you are an IB or a full-time trader, you need to set the read-only access to give your clients more confidence in your trading plans.
